OVERVIEW
Dale Frances Bozzio (née Consalvi, born March 2, 1955) is an American singer known for her bold fashion, distinctive high-pitched vocal style, and charismatic stage presence. She rose to fame as co-founder and frontwoman of Missing Persons, blending new wave, rock, and pop.
EARLY LIFE & MUSICAL
BEGINNINGS Born in Medford, Massachusetts, Dale moved to Los Angeles and was discovered by Frank Zappa. She performed on several Zappa projects (including Joe’s Garage) and met future bandmates Warren Cuccurullo and her then-husband Terry Bozzio while working in Zappa’s circle.
MISSING PERSONS
In 1980, she co-founded Missing Persons with Warren Cuccurullo (guitar) and Terry Bozzio (drums). Their quirky, synth-driven sound and Dale’s memorable look (bright makeup, geometric hair, futuristic outfits) made them MTV favorites.

PRINCE CONNECTION
After Missing Persons disbanded in 1986, Prince signed Dale to his Paisley Park Records label. She released her solo debut Riot in English (1988) under the mononym Dale. She and Prince also had a romantic relationship for a period, with Prince reportedly proposing marriage.

STAGE WORK & LATER CAREER
Dale has continued touring with reformed versions of Missing Persons, performing the band’s classic catalog. She released her autobiography Life Is So Strange (2021), detailing her experiences with Zappa, Prince, and the music industry.
