Sheila E: The Percussion Heart
Sheila E. (full name Sheila Cecilia Escovedo, born December 12, 1957, in Oakland, CA) is the "Queen of Percussion," a legendary drummer, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from a famed musical family (father Pete Escovedo, godfather Tito Puente). She met Prince in 1977 backstage at a concert with her father; their collaboration exploded in 1984 when he produced her debut solo album The Glamorous Life (hits: title track, "The Belle of St. Mark").
