THE STORY

Released in the UK on November 6, 1989 as the third single from the Batman soundtrack, “The Arms Of Orion” is a tender, atmospheric R&B ballad performed as a duet with Sheena Easton. The B-side “I Love U In Me” was previously unreleased. The single peaked at No. 27 on the UK Singles Chart and had a brief re-entry in late December.

CONTEXT & NOTES

This romantic ballad provided a softer contrast to the high-energy funk of previous Batman singles. It continued the Batman visual branding while highlighting Prince’s versatility in ballad form.
