The single became the album’s biggest hit, reaching number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 3 on the Billboard Black Singles chart. "Raspberry Beret became the album’s most successful single, peaking at number 2 on the Billboard Hot 100."

THE STORY BEHIND IT

Released four weeks after Around The World In A Day, Raspberry Beret signalled Prince’s shift into psychedelic pop and colourful visual aesthetics. The B‑side, She’s Always In My Hair, quickly became a fan favourite and one of Prince’s strongest non‑album tracks. The single’s success helped define the era’s sound and imagery, while the 12" “New Mix” versions expanded the song’s reach in clubs and on radio. In the UK, the B‑side was replaced with Hello due to the simultaneous release of Paisley Park.
