THE STORY

Released in the United States on January 25, 1985 as a 7-inch vinyl single on Warner Bros. Records (7-29079), “Take Me With U” was the fifth and final single from the Purple Rain soundtrack. Credited to Prince & Apollonia, the breezy pop-rock duet served as a bright, romantic counterpoint to the film’s more intense moments. The B-side featured an edited version of “Baby I’m A Star.” The single peaked at No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 40 on the Billboard Hot Black Singles chart. It was also released in Japan and New Zealand.
