TIMELESS

Timeless is a brand-new 10-track compilation featuring rare and unreleased studio recordings from Princes legendary vault. This unprecedented album encompasses tracks spanning every phase of Princes illustrious career, from 1977 to 2016. The project has been meticulously mastered by Grammy-nominated engineer and producer Chris James, a former Prince engineer whose notable credits include HITnRUN Phase Two, Art Official Age, and Plectrumelectrum. Timeless is now available on stunning purple marble vinyl, black vinyl and CD providing profound insights into Princes creative process and musical evolution.

Seems like the perfect title for an album by a man who lived outside the bounds of time itself.
Prince wasn’t interested in counting the days or hours. Why would he? He created his own calendar, one measured in sound, creativity and freedom.
His music never belonged neatly to one genre, one era or one category. Funk. Rock. Soul. Pop. R&B. Jazz. Electronic. Something entirely his own.
Prince didn’t follow the times. He made music that outlived them.
And now, the vault opens again.

I Am You

a song recorded in 1977. It was performed live at Prince’s first two solo concerts, held at the Capri Theater in Minneapolis in January 1979, but is not known to have been performed again or considered for any specific project. Musical elements from the song were later reused for The Time’s I Don’t Wanna Leave You released in 1982.

Tick, Tick, Bang

first recorded in 1981 at Kiowa Trail Home Studio, Chanhassen, Minnesota. The song was later re-recorded from scratch in 1989 for Graffiti Bridge, released in 1990; the version included on Timeless is the earlier 1981 studio version.

Heaven

was recorded on 26 May 1985 at Sunset Sound, Hollywood, California. It was later considered for the planned musical The Dawn, but that project was abandoned..

I Wonder

was recorded in August 1989 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, Minnesota, with additional recording listed in late 1991–1992. It is not known whether the song was intended for any specific project at the time, although it was later selected by fans for the abandoned Crystal Ball Volume II project during Prince: A Celebration in 2000.

With This Tear

written by Prince and given to Celine Dion, who released her own version on her eponymous 1992 album after re-recording it with her own musicians. The version included on Timeless is Prince’s own guide-vocal recording.

Stone

also known as Nothing Left 2 Give, originates from material by Sandra St. Victor, Tom Hammer and Jules Van Veen, with additional lyrics and music added by Prince. He re-recorded the track in Spring 1995 at Paisley Park Studios, and it was later considered for Playtime By Versace and a 1996 configuration of Emancipation. Sandra St. Victor later released her own original version, Nothing Left To Give, on her 2018 digital release Sanctuary.

Calabama

is a song from 2003, supposedly the title track of an unreleased album Prince was working on before Musicology. It was played to VIP ticket holders at Paisley Park Studios during the 2024 Celebration, where a recording date of 24 June 2003 was mentioned.

The Guilty Ones

was recorded on 16 October 2007 at Paisley Park Studios, Chanhassen, Minnesota. Other musicians from Prince’s 2007 band may have been involved, but this has not been confirmed; a portion of the lyrics was later included in the book 21 Nights.

Bestest Friend

presently one of the least documented tracks announced for Timeless. It is believed to have been recorded sometime in the early 2010s, presumably in 2012, but no further recording information has been confirmed at this time.

Hoe Come You Don't Call Me Anymore?

Prince’s original studio version was released as the B-side of 1999 in 1982, and the song later became a recurring live feature, including performances on the Purple Rain Tour and tours during the 2000s and 2010s. The Timeless version is dated to 2016 and is taken from the Piano & A Microphone Tour,
