A minimalist masterpiece that hit No. 6 on the UK Singles Chart

SUMMARY

“Kiss” was released on 5 February 1986 as the lead single from Parade, the third album credited to Prince and the Revolution. Issued worldwide via Paisley Park/Warner Bros., the single marked a bold stylistic shift — stripped‑back, skeletal funk built around handclaps, falsetto, and a razor‑sharp groove.

The track entered the UK Singles Chart on 8 March 1986, eventually peaking at No. 6 and spending nine weeks on the chart. Its B‑side, “Love or Money,” was exclusive to the single at the time and later became a fan favourite.

“Kiss” remains one of Prince’s most iconic singles, winning a Grammy and becoming a defining moment of the Parade era.
