THE STORY Released on February 5, 1986 as the lead single from the album Parade, “Kiss” marked a bold stylistic shift for Prince and The Revolution — a stripped-back, skeletal funk masterpiece built around handclaps, falsetto vocals, and a razor-sharp groove. The single became one of Prince’s most iconic releases, peaking at No. 6 on the UK Singles Chart and spending nine weeks on the chart. The B-side “Love or Money” was exclusive to the single at the time and quickly became a fan favourite.

CONTEXT & NOTES “Kiss” is widely regarded as one of Prince’s most influential minimalist productions. Its sparse arrangement and confident delivery perfectly captured the Parade era aesthetic. The single was issued in numerous UK variants, including standard pressings, shaped picture discs, and various label colours.
