Released: March 12, 1991 (USA)

The first single from True Confessions — built, shaped, and supercharged by Prince.

Miss Thang was released in the USA on March 12, 1991 as the lead single from T.C. Ellis’ debut (and only) album True Confessions. Issued two months before the album, the single arrived exclusively in the US market and featured an extensive suite of remixes. Prince wrote, produced, and performed the majority of the track, making it one of the most direct Prince‑helmed releases of the early ’90s Paisley Park era. Despite strong promotional variants, the single did not chart.

🟣 Production and Context

Prince wrote, produced, and performed the majority of Miss Thang, making it one of the most Prince‑driven tracks in the T.C. Ellis catalogue. The single served as the public introduction to True Confessions, a Paisley Park project blending rap, R&B, and Minneapolis‑style production. Released during Prince’s Diamonds and Pearls era, the track reflects the label’s push toward hip‑hop‑infused acts.
