THE STORY

This compilation brings together Prince’s biggest and boldest hits from 1978–1993, spanning The Revolution and New Power Generation eras. It serves as the companion to The Hits 1, featuring funkier, more sensual, and rock-oriented material.

CONTEXT & NOTES

Released during Prince’s contract tensions with Warner Bros., The Hits 2 contains the more explicit tracks (avoiding a Parental Advisory on Volume 1). It includes two then-new songs: “Peach” (1992) and “Pope” (1993). The set was a commercial success and later formed the core of the 3-disc The Hits / The B-Sides box.
