THE STORY
Originally released in 2002 as a limited CD-only album, One Nite Alone... captures Prince in an intimate, stripped-down setting — just his voice and piano, with a few additional touches. The album includes original material and a heartfelt cover of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of U.” This 2020 reissue marks its debut on vinyl.
CONTEXT & NOTES
Recorded live to tape, the album showcases Prince’s masterful piano playing and raw vocal delivery. It features minimal production (additional drums on two tracks by John Blackwell) and ambient elements. The 2020 purple vinyl edition was part of the Prince Estate’s ongoing reissue campaign of his catalog on colored vinyl.
