Recorded on July 2 1990 at Olympic Studios in London (on the same day as “Daddy Pop” and “Walk Don’t Walk”). The song was included on early configurations of the Diamonds And Pearls album in November and December 1990 but was ultimately cut. It was later remixed on 25 November 1990 at Paisley Park, with Eric Leeds adding saxophone overdubs in December 1992. | The narrative tells the story of a 16-year-old boy seducing a 14-year-old girl. The lyrics reference Tower of Power’s “Squib Cakes” (which Prince also sampled on “Release It” and “Sleep Around”). Features Prince on all vocals and instruments, with background vocals by Rosie Gaines and unidentified female vocalists. Eric Leeds plays saxophone on the released version. |
