Report on Prince’s special promotional visit to Sheridan, Wyoming (pop. 15,000) for the premiere of his film Under the Cherry Moon.

“Prince serenades residents of Wyoming town”

Lisa Barber, a 20-year-old hotel worker, won an MTV national contest as the 10,000th caller. As her prize, Sheridan was chosen as the premiere location and she was allowed to invite 200 friends to the party at the Sheridan Holiday Inn. Prince arrived at the local airport, dramatically bolting away from media and officials to greet fans, then performed seven songs for approximately 1,000 people at the after-party.

The event turned the small Wyoming town into a major destination for one night. Prince sang directly to Lisa Barber and her friends following the film screening. The article captures the excitement of a major rock star bringing Hollywood-level glamour and a private concert to a modest rural community as part of the Under the Cherry Moon promotional campaign.
