Prince And The Revolution: Live was the second Prince and the Revolution home video to be released and their first live concert released on home video format.
The footage comes from a live broadcast of a Purple Rain Tour concert in Syracuse, on 30 March 1985. It was first released on 2 cassettes under the name of “Double Live” before being re-released as Prince And The Revolution: Live on one cassette and laserdisc.
The home video reached the number 1 spot (where it remained for 13 weeks) on the Billboard Top Music Videocassettes chart and number 2 on the Billboard Top Videocassettes Sales. It was certified 2x Platinum by the RIAA. In 2017, the video was restored and released on a DVD included on Purple Rain Deluxe Expanded Edition.

The audio was released digitally as Prince And The Revolution: Live on 15 May 2020. The audio of this release has been remixed from the original 2" master reels and the film has been digitally enhanced onto Blu-ray video for the 2022 re-release of Prince And The Revolution: Live.
Several countries around the world, amongst them Germany (on TV program Rockpalast), broadcast the concert live. France TV channel Antenne 2 broadcast the concert a few days later.
