"My Name Is Prince" was released as the second single from Love Symbol Album, the fourteenth Prince album and the second to be credited to Prince And The New Power Generation.

The single arrived two weeks before the parent album and formed a major part of the album's launch campaign.

For releases outside the United States, the principal B-side was "2 Whom It May Concern", a unique studio composition built around excerpts and references to material from Love Symbol Album.

Functioning almost as a promotional preview for the forthcoming record, the track incorporated elements from

much of the album's content and served as a companion piece to the single.

Additional UK maxi-single editions expanded the release with exclusive remixes of "My Name Is Prince" and "Sexy M.F." created by outside remixers, making the single one of the most extensively configured releases of the era.

STYLE & THEMES
