Omnivore Recordings has announced a special 30th anniversary edition of Jason Falkner's acclaimed debut solo album, Presents Author Unknown. Scheduled for release on December 4, 2026, this expanded CD edition revisits a landmark recording from one of modern popular music's most respected musicians, songwriters and producers..


The release features a brand-new remix created by Falkner from the original multitrack tapes, alongside bonus tracks, new liner notes and updated mastering.

ABOUT JASON FALKNER

Jason Falkner has built a reputation as one of the most gifted musicians of his generation. In addition to his solo work, he has been a member of The Three O'Clock, Jellyfish, The Grays and TV Eyes, while also collaborating with an extensive list of artists including Beck, Paul McCartney, Aimee Mann, St. Vincent, Noel Gallagher, Brendan Benson and Air.

Born in San Francisco and raised in Southern California, Falkner was a classically trained piano prodigy whose musical talent emerged at an early age.

Of particular interest to Prince fans, Falkner first gained major recognition as a member of The Three O'Clock, whose final album, Vermillion, was released on Prince's Paisley Park Records.

THE ORIGINAL ALBUM

Following his work with The Three O'Clock, Jellyfish and The Grays, Falkner embarked on a solo career and signed with Elektra Records. In 1996 he released Presents Author Unknown, an album written, produced and performed entirely by Falkner himself.

The record quickly earned critical acclaim for its sophisticated songwriting, inventive arrangements and exceptional musicianship. Decades later, it continues to be regarded as one of the defining albums in Falkner's catalogue and remains highly respected among musicians and fans alike.

30TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION

To celebrate the album's thirtieth anniversary, Falkner returned to the original multitrack tapes and created an entirely new remix of the record. The new version aims to reveal additional depth, punch and sonic detail while remaining faithful to the character and spirit of the original release.

The expanded edition also includes new liner notes written by Falkner, reflecting on the album's legacy and the creative motivations behind revisiting the material three decades after its initial release

The anniversary edition adds four bonus tracks, comprising an album outtake and three 4-track demos recorded during the period.
