THE STORY 

The Time’s 1981 debut was largely written, performed, and produced by Prince (under the pseudonym Jamie Starr), with Morris Day on lead vocals. It introduced the world to the slick, funky Minneapolis Sound and launched a band that would become legendary for their high-energy live performances.


CONTEXT & NOTES 

This expanded reissue marks the first vinyl release of the album since the original 1981 pressing. The red-and-white colored vinyl edition was part of Rhino’s Black Music Month celebrations. The album peaked at #50 on the Billboard 200 and #7 on the Top Soul LPs chart, eventually going Gold. It features iconic tracks like “Get It Up,” “Cool,” and “The Stick.”
