THE STORY
“Ice Cream Castles” was the first single released from The Time’s album Ice Cream Castle. The B-side “Tricky” was not included on the album and featured significant uncredited input from Prince.
CONTEXT & NOTES
Released five weeks before the album and before the film Purple Rain hit theaters, the single did not benefit from the massive promotional boost that later singles received. It reached #11 on the Billboard Black Singles Chart but only bubbled under the Hot 100.
