Released on 20 September 1988 in the USA as a 7" single, I Wish U Heaven was the third single from Prince’s tenth album Lovesexy. Arriving four and a half months after the album, the single marked a return to traditional artwork after the sticker‑only sleeves used for Alphabet St. and Glam Slam.
The B‑side Scarlet Pussy (credited to Camille) became Prince’s first “hidden track” on CD editions, where it was unlisted. On vinyl and cassette, the track was listed normally, though still credited to Camille. The cover artwork displayed the title as Wish U Heaven, despite the labels and album listing it as I Wish U Heaven. The single did not enter the US Billboard Hot 100, but reached number 18 on the Billboard R&B chart
Recorded during the Lovesexy sessions at Paisley Park.
The B‑side Scarlet Pussy is a non‑album track credited to Camille, continuing Prince’s use of the persona.
