RELEASE

This was the lead single from Prince’s album Planet Earth. It was released physically in Europe and made available as a download earlier through Verizon Wireless and O2.

BACKGROUND 

Guitar was released a week before the album Planet Earth was given away free with The Mail on Sunday in the UK and Ireland. The single received limited commercial success in Europe, reaching the top 20 only in the Netherlands and Italy.

RECEPTION 

The song was ranked number 39 on Rolling Stone’s list of the 100 Best Songs of 2007.
