A Fan-Site Funk Retort
Prince’s “F.U.N.K.” digital single was released worldwide on November 20, 2007, on NPG Records (no catalogue). This 7:36 funk jam — originally streamed/downloaded free as “PFUnk” on PrinceFansUnited.com in response to the site’s criticism of his fan-website takedowns — was renamed and sold on iTunes (256 kbps AAC). A bold, defiant groove, it’s a rare digital-era Prince statement.
