THE STORY “Dance 4 Me” was the first and only single taken from Prince’s 2009 album MPLSound. It was released digitally in France one week before the album and was not available elsewhere at the time. In September 2009, David Alexander’s “Icon Remix” was issued on iTunes in North America. Although several other remixes and an edit were prepared for a planned maxi-single in 2009, they remained unreleased until Swiss label Purple Music compiled them (along with two brand new mixes by Jamie Lewis and Brian Matrix) for this physical CD single in December 2011.

CONTEXT & NOTES 

This 2011 Purple Music release remains the only physical single ever issued for the track. It was made available as a standard CD, 12" vinyl, and limited 12" picture disc. The futuristic artwork perfectly suited the sleek, club-oriented remixes. The single received modest chart success in France upon its initial digital release in 2009 (#38 on the download chart).
