"Mountains" was the second single from Prince’s eighth album, Parade, the third credited to Prince and the Revolution, released five weeks after the album’s debut. Its B-side, "Alexa De Paris," remains absent from any album release, though an extended version appeared on the European CD single of "Letitgo" in 1994.

THE STORY
The 12" single featured extended versions of both tracks: a nearly 10-minute version of “Mountains” on the A-side and the extended instrumental “Alexa De Paris” on the B-side.
CONTEXT & NOTES
“Alexa De Paris” is an instrumental named after dancer Alexa Fioroni, who appears in Under the Cherry Moon. The extended versions were exclusive to this 12" format. The single reached No.23 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No.11 on the Dance chart.
