Peace was first made available on 14 April 2001 at Prince’s Hit N Run Tour performance at the Atlanta Civic Center, Atlanta, Georgia. Sold exclusively at concerts alongside The Daisy Chain and Prince’s Supercute, the single was never commercially released. The title track had already appeared as an NPG Music Club download months earlier, while 2045: Radical Man had been released the previous year on the Bamboozled soundtrack, credited to Prince. Both tracks later appeared on The Slaughterhouse, but the single was originally intended to accompany the New Power Generation’s planned 2000 album Peace, which was ultimately aborted. The packaging is unique among Prince‑related releases, featuring a Velcro‑secured card‑flap design.
🟣 The Story
Peace debuted as a tour‑only CD single on 14 April 2001, sold at merchandise stands during the Hit N Run Tour. It was released together with The Daisy Chain and Prince’s Supercute, forming a trio of exclusive CDs available only at shows and later at the Celebration festival at Paisley Park in June 2001.
The single’s title track had been offered as a download through the NPG Music Club nearly three months earlier, while 2045: Radical Man had already appeared on the Bamboozled soundtrack in 2000. The single was originally intended to accompany the New Power Generation’s unreleased Peace album, and the CD print still refers to it as the “first cybersingle from the 4thcoming Peace.” Its packaging is distinctive, with the disc mounted on a card backing and secured by a Velcro connector. Due to its limited distribution, the single was not eligible for charts.
