A sparkling, synth‑pop burst from Prince’s late‑period renaissance, pairing him with Zooey Deschanel for a standalone digital single that later became retroactively tied to HITnRUN Phase One.

RELEASE DETAILS Date: March 17, 2014 Format: Digital Single Country: Worldwide
Track: “Fallinlove2nite” (feat. Zooey Deschanel) – 3:18
THE STORY Released digitally on March 17, 2014, “Fallinlove2nite” was promoted as a standalone Prince single and credited to Prince feat. Zooey Deschanel — only the second time in his career he shared a commercial single credit with another artist outside his own band.
The track premiered during Prince’s guest appearance on New Girl (February 2, 2014), then rolled out across radio, streaming, and digital storefronts. A version without Zooey Deschanel’s vocals later appeared on HITnRUN Phase One (2015), making this release the only place to obtain the duet version.
CONTEXT & NOTES The song emerged from Prince’s collaboration with the TV series New Girl. Joshua Welton handled production (uncredited), marking one of the earliest examples of his work with Prince. The single’s release strategy reflected Prince’s embrace of digital distribution during the 3rdEyeGirl era — fast, direct, and platform‑wide. The duet version with Zooey Deschanel remains unique to this release, making it a key entry for collectors.
