THE STORY
Heaven Help Us All is the debut studio album by the Minneapolis-based gospel group The Steeles (comprised of siblings Fred, JD, Jearlyn, Jevetta, and Billy Steele). The album blends contemporary gospel with soulful R&B elements and features the Prince-penned track “Well Done,” a powerful, uplifting song credited solely to Prince (though originally co-written with David Z. Rivkin and Levi Seacer, Jr.). Prince also contributed uncredited instrumentation across the project, adding his signature touch to the group’s rich vocal harmonies.

CONTEXT & NOTES
Recorded primarily at Paisley Park Studios and Metro Studios in Minnesota, the album was produced by Ricky Peterson with Prince serving as arranger on select tracks. “Well Done” was submitted in a re-recorded version by Prince, but the group ultimately used their preferred original take while retaining the sole Prince credit. The project reflects Prince’s continued support for local gospel talent during a highly creative period. Despite critical interest, the album did not chart and produced no singles.
