THE STORY
After abruptly withdrawing the album in 1987, Prince finally authorized its official release on November 22, 1994 as a strictly limited edition. The 1994 version was released with minimal packaging — a plain black sleeve with a sticker on the front identifying it as “The legendary Black Album – Limited Edition.”

CONTEXT & NOTES
This official release came after years of heavy bootlegging. It was deleted from catalogs shortly after release (January 1995) and remains one of Prince’s most mysterious and sought-after official albums. The vinyl features peach-colored spine text on some editions and includes “When 2 R In Love,” which had previously appeared on Lovesexy.
