Prince's Tramp-Sampled Salvation
Warner Bros. Records, in conjunction with Paisley Park, released Prince and The New Power Generation’s “7” as a 7-inch vinyl and cassette single in the UK on November 23, 1992, catalogue: (W 0147 / 5439-18599-7 & W0147C). The single was the fourth from the Love Symbol album. The A-side was the Album Edit (4:23), backed with the delicate Acoustic Version (3:54) — both featuring a sample of Lowell Fulsom & Jimmy McCracklin’s “Tramp”. Peaked at No. 27 on the Official BBC Singles Chart for 6 weeks. Issued in picture sleeve with matching cassette (W0147C).
