Xpectation Album: 2003

Released as a digital download album in the US by NPG Records (without a catalog number) on January 1, 2003. Prince's Xpectation (New Directions in Music) was his first instrumental album under his own name, released initially without announcement and available only as an MP3 download for NPG Music Club members, lacking formal artwork. This release came two weeks after the commercial launch of One Nite Alone... Live! and was followed by a UK release in February 2003.

In 2004, Xpectation was offered via the NPG Music Club's Musicology Download Store. The artwork, created by Sam Jennings, was officially unveiled in September 2015 when a digital lossless version was released on the music streaming platform Tidal.
