Prince’s first official live album — a spiritual, improvisational NPG masterclass captured across nine transcendent 2002 shows

✦ Summary

Released in the United States on December 17, 2002 (and in the UK in January 2003), One Nite Alone… Live! marked Prince’s first official live album — and his first release credited to Prince & The New Power Generation since 1992. Originally exclusive to NPG Music Club members, the 3‑disc box set combined the full One Nite Alone… Live! concert experience with the legendary aftershow disc It Ain’t Over! and the previously club‑only One Nite Alone… piano album.

Recorded directly from Scottie Baldwin’s console across nine shows at eight venues during the March–April 2002 One Nite Alone… Tour, the set captures Prince’s spiritual, jazz‑infused, improvisational NPG era at its peak. In 2020, The Prince Estate and Legacy reissued the material as part of the Up All Nite With Prince 4CD+DVD box set and as standalone vinyl editions, finally giving the wider public access to one of Prince’s most revered live documents.

A milestone in Prince’s catalogue — intimate, expansive, and deeply rooted in The Rainbow Children’s musical philosophy.

✦ Glam Flashback

One Nite Alone… Live! is Prince at his most spiritually open — a fusion of jazz, gospel, funk, and improvisation that redefined what a Prince concert could be. The performances are intimate yet explosive, with the NPG operating as a telepathic unit. The aftershow disc, long whispered about among fans, finally received its official spotlight here, capturing the raw, late‑night magic that made Prince’s aftershows legendary.

A landmark release — and one of the most essential live documents in the entire Prince catalogue.
