"Graffiti Bridge" is Prince's twelfth studio album and serves as the soundtrack for the 1990 film of the same name. It was released on August 20, 1990, by Paisley Park Records and Warner Bros. Records.
The album achieved greater commercial success than the film. It peaked at number 6 in the United States and became his third consecutive chart-topper on the UK Albums Chart, following "Lovesexy" and "Batman." Almost every track on the album was composed by Prince, despite featuring performances by artists such as Tevin Campbell, Mavis Staples, and the Time. The album spawned the hit singles "Thieves in the Temple" and "New Power Generation," an anthem in two parts celebrating Prince's newly formed backing band, the New Power Generation. This band would make its first official appearance on Prince's subsequent album, "Diamonds and Pearls."
