David Bowie’s The Next Day was released as an album in the UK by ISO/Columbia Records (catalog number 88765 46192 2) on March 8, 2013.
This album marked Bowie's first studio release in a decade, following his withdrawal from the public eye after a 2004 procedure to address a blocked heart artery. Co-produced with Tony Visconti, the album was recorded in New York City from May 2011 to October 2012. It included contributions from session musicians, some of whom Bowie had previously collaborated with, such as Gerry Leonard, Earl Slick, Gail Ann Dorsey, Steve Elson, Sterling Campbell, and Zachary Alford. The recording sessions were conducted in secrecy, with all involved parties signing non-disclosure agreements.
