Queen’s "Radio Ga Ga" backed with "I Go Crazy", was released as a 7-inch vinyl single in the UK by EMI Records (catalog number QUEEN 1) on January 23, 1984.
This track served as the opener for the album The Works and is also featured on the band's compilation albums Greatest Hits II and Classic Queen.
The song, which nostalgically defends the radio format, was a global hit for the band, topping the charts in 19 countries, reaching number two on both the UK Singles Chart and the Australian Kent Music Report, and attaining number 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100. It became the band's last original single to enter the US top 40 during Freddie Mercury's lifetime, although their subsequent singles frequently appeared in the top 40 on the Mainstream Rock chart. The band included the song in every concert from 1984 until their final performance with Freddie Mercury in 1986, including their 1985 Live Aid show.
The music video for the song features footage from the 1927 silent science fiction film Metropolis. It was heavily played on music channels and received a nomination for an MTV Video Music Award in 1984.
