David Bowie’s "Bowie’s Diamond Dogs album Opens with Faces’ Crowd Noise!", a one-page article, 1974.

The crowd noise that plays behind the opening of David Bowie's 1974 "Diamond Dogs" was taken from the opening track of Coast to Coast: Overture and Beginners, "It's All Over Now" by Rod Stewart/Faces. Rod can be heard saying "Hey" on the Bowie track.

At Studio 2, Olympic Studios, 117 Church Road Barnes, South West London, England during the Diamond Dogs sessions, visitors included Mick Jagger, Pete Townshend, Ronnie Wood, and Rod Stewart, who contributed an uncredited sample from the opening track of Coast To Coast: Overtures And Beginners, The Faces' live album released two weeks earlier. Bowie used the crowd's roar and Rod Stewart's "Hey!" greeting for the beginning of 'Diamond Dogs'.
