Slade’s "Coz I Luv You" remains at the top spot on the 50 Singles Chart, as published in Record Mirror on December 4, 1971.

Slade released "Coz I Luv You" in October 1971 as a single from their album Slayed?. The British glam rock band, led by Noddy Holder and Jim Lea, crafted this raucous, stomping track with a raw, infectious energy. Written by Holder and Lea, the song’s misspelled title and lyrics embrace Slade’s playful, working-class vibe. Its driving piano riff, heavy guitar, and Holder’s distinctive vocals made it a standout, blending glam with rock ‘n’ roll roots.

Recorded at Olympic Studios in London, the track was produced by Chas Chandler (formerly of The Animals). It became Slade’s first UK #1 single, topping the UK Singles Chart for four weeks and selling over 500,000 copies. It reached #2 in Ireland but didn’t chart significantly in the US. The song’s success marked Slade’s rise as glam rock pioneers, paving the way for their string of hits in the early ‘70s
