Alice Cooper Group’s Killer was reissued as a newly remastered album in the US by Rhino/Warner Bros. Records (catalog number R2 695501) on June 9, 2023, with a UK release in July 2023.
The 1971 album peaked at No. 21 on the US Billboard 200 and No. 27 on the UK Albums Chart. Produced by Bob Ezrin, it features singles “Under My Wheels” and “Be My Lover,” alongside tracks like “Yeah, Yeah, Yeah,” “Desperado,” and the prog-rock epic “Halo of Flies.” The deluxe edition includes bonus alternate takes of “You Drive Me Nervous,” “Under My Wheels,” and “Dead Babies,” plus an unreleased live recording from the Mar Y Sol Pop Festival in Puerto Rico on April 2, 1972. This performance, recorded months before School’s Out, previews “Public Animal #9” and includes most of Killer’s tracks, such as “You Drive Me Nervous,” “Under My Wheels,” and “Halo of Flies,” plus Love It to Death cuts like “Is It My Body?,” “Long Way to Go,” and “I’m Eighteen.” Noted in a 2023 Classic Rock review, the reissue highlights the band’s raw energy and shock-rock innovation. The vinyl edition recreates the original gatefold sleeve with a detachable 1972 calendar featuring Cooper in the gallows.
