The Oh My That Rocked '83


Slade’s “My Oh My” 7-inch vinyl single, was released in the UK on November 11, 1983, on RCA Records (catalogue: RCA 373 / PB 68119). Backed with “Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply,” this anthemic rock ballad, written by Noddy Holder and Jim Lea, was produced by John Punter for Perseverance Ltd. The A-side’s soaring chorus and heartfelt lyrics peaked at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart for 11 weeks, with limited editions adding “Merry Xmas Everybody (Live & Kickin')”. Issued in solid centre, knockout centre, Damont/Ta1pe, and Utopia lacquer variants, plus a 12-inch with “Don't Tame A Hurricane,” it’s a festive glam-rock triumph.

Produced by John Punter (A), Jimmy Lea/Slade (B). Recorded in 1983 during The Amazing Kamikaze Syndrome sessions. The lineup: Noddy Holder (vocals), Dave Hill (guitar), Jim Lea (bass), Don Powell (drums). “My Oh My” was a comeback ballad, while “Keep Your Hands Off My Power Supply” added rock edge. Limited editions included live “Merry Xmas Everybody.” Released amid Slade’s revival.
