Released as a live album by Prince and The New Power Generation, all five tracks were initially issued as individual mp3 files in 2003. The album falls under the jazz genre, featuring five tracks recorded during soundchecks on the One Nite Alone... Tour.

Four of the tracks are named after the locations where they were recorded. The album's title is an acronym derived from the first letters of the tracks: "Copenhagen," "Nagoya," "Osaka," "Tokyo," and "Empty Room."

The entire album was captured live from the audio console by Prince's concert sound engineer, Scottie Baldwin.

The first four tracks are instrumentals, with the fourth track including Prince repeatedly saying "Tokyo." The fifth track is a live version of "Empty Room" (recorded on October 25, 2002, in Copenhagen), although the song was originally written around August 4, 1985, when it was first recorded. It is said to have been created for Susannah Melvoin following relationship issues.

The album is highly experimental and reminiscent of the Madhouse project. It was available exclusively in digital format through Prince's NPG Music Club. "C-Note" is characterized by jazz influences, along with quiet storm, jazz-fusion, jazz-funk, and smooth jazz elements. It also has an atmospheric and new age theme.
