The eighteenth studio album by Prince, released on July 9, 1996, by Warner Bros. Records. It peaked at number 26 in the U.S., marking his lowest charting album of new material since his debut, "For You," and reached number 14 in the U.K. Prince chose not to promote the album due to his ongoing dispute with Warner Bros., and it was released solely to meet his contractual obligations. The inlay sleeve includes the message: "Originally intended 4 private use only, this compilation serves as the last original material recorded by (love symbol) 4 warner brothers records - may you live 2 see the dawn."
The single "Dinner with Delores" was released exclusively in the U.K. and, despite minimal promotion, became a Top 40 hit, though minor compared to his past successes. Although the album was out of print for years, it became available digitally on Tidal in 2016 and on iTunes in 2018. It was reissued on CD and vinyl in September 2019. The inlay sleeve features an image of a bloody hypodermic needle with a dollar bill inside and a human heart in a toilet bowl.
