Marc turned dreams to reality
THIS is Marc Bolan, starchild. A babe in a lucid, woodsy dream of nymphs, sparkling dust, mythical beasts, mediaeval magic and beauty. All of this is reflected in the music of T. Rex and Marc's ability to float through it all virtually untouched.
A long time ago in a group called John's Children, Marc sang
record called 'Desdemona". Surrounded by group members, perhaps the dreams were held down to too much cold reality, for he left to form Tyrannosaurus Rex with Steve Peregrine-Took.
Marc's adventures in mental fairyland led the successful "Deborah' and even bigger 'One Inch Rock, but things then seemed to decline. Steve left and Mare's dreams slid back into daytime. However, they couldn't be held back the wouldn't die.
Micky Finn joined and brought fresh new outlooks. Marc began to dance again and the now abbreviated T. Rex was born again. The result was White Swan' in the top five singles and a top thirty LP with 'T. Rex'. On the new Fly label, it's a new age for visions of unobtainable serenity and dreams of far off lands.
