THE entry of T. Rex's 'Telegram Sam' at number three last week in Record Mirror's singles chart marks the highest entry of this kind since the Beatles' 'Let It Be' single reached number two during the week of March 14, 1970.

Sales of 'Telegram Sam' were approaching the quarter million mark by Friday January 28.

T. Rex have just completed several European appearances, ending in France where their 'Jeepster' single is still high in the chart. They recorded their own half-hour TV show in France at the Chateau de Herouville, which has been converted into a studio. The group return to Britain tonight (Thursday) before leaving again for their American tour, commencing February 11. There is also the possibility of a tour of Britain in the spring.
