Bolan solo on benefit album
MARC BOLAN of T. Rex is the first contributor to be confirmed for a special triple-album set, which is to be issued as a benefit for last June's Glastonbury Festival. The set is titled "When The Sound Of The Music Changes," and it is planned for February release on the specially-formed Revelation label at a price of £3.50. The collection will include Marc's Sunken Rags," an acoustic song recorded at his home it will be the first number to be released under his own name since "Hippy Gimbo" five years ago.
Among other artists being sought to take part in the benefit set are David Bowie, the Edgar Brough-ton Band, ex-Soft Machine member Daevid Allen and his Gong group (which also includes Kevin Ayers), Mighty Baby and the Pink Fairies. Live ma-terial actually recorded at the fair will also be included in the set.
appearance Meanwhile, T. Rex is set for a rare live British its first since its autumn tour - when it stars at Boston Starlight on Saturday, January 15 (tickets 60p, available only on the night). The group flies to Frankfurt on January 4 to appear in the "Hits A-Gogo" TV show, and the following day appears on TV in Hamburg. Rex is also set for a short series of European concerts, playing Oslo (Jan-uary 28), Stockholm (29), Copenhagen (30), Hamburg (31) and Munster (February 1). Dates in France, including a concert at Paris Olympia, are at present being lined up.
Marc Bolan returned to Britain on Sunday following his eight-day promotional visit to the United States.
